Behind the Award

How it came about:

Cycle 13 transformation est. ( Cycle)13 came to Liechtenstein two years ago to form a company with the sole purpose of creating a number of life enhancing products and services, the directors of the company felt that Liechtenstein is a magical place with good energy and the right environment to create such products. As the founders put it, “it felt right” the company was formed and the ideas started to flow but before work could commence they started to build a small but important network of people who could help in the life cycle of the products and create the companies image, they met Mario Frick who designed the corporate logo and style, they met Philip Zund who designed a story board video and Daniel Preite who set up their essential domains, emails and designed key components for the future foundation of an ecommerce site. The beginning was strong, everything they needed was here in this micro society and everyone was enthusiastic, happy, fair and competent, not much to ask but factors in large cities that are harder to find these days.

The first product was to be the Lomme, an egg shaped sleeping bed that provided a safe, relaxing and protected area to get good nights sleep. Research started on sleep depravation and natural therapies that enable better rejuvenation. Most cities have huge electrical charges and electro magnetic areas that interrupt and disturb our nights sleep, as sleep is one of the most important parts of our life cycle, we need to get quality sleep so we can get quality work and be productive during the day. Designing a bed therefore that created this space became the priority, having some experience in design but none in furniture and having already decided to build this project in Liechtenstein Agnieszka Bernacka (managing Director of Cycle 13) had to find help, fortunately she also had to furnish the office and living space, she met Günther Thony owner manager of Mobel Thony in Schaan, Günther after taking care of the essential furniture needs he also immediately took a shine to the Lomme project and began to sketch, Günther became the first leg of this design to bring to realisation from Agnieszka’s initial thought and idea. When technical data was needed they found Andreas Batliner, a technical designer of products in Triesen, Andreas took a shine to the project too and finalised the essential 3d work that allowed the Lomme to get into production, then returning to Mario (who Cycle 13 do many projects with by this time) who took the corporate design onto the world wide web to visualise the companies ideas.

The cycle from idea to reality (as the Lomme now exists) was so short and so amazing Cycle 13 wanted to nominate all the participants they have come across in those 2 short years in Liechtenstein for an award, we were told by Michael Gatenhoff that it did not exists so “lets start one” was the solution voiced by the team, headed then by Michael Gattenhof we launched the idea of an award for “good energy” good will, good work, good feeling something unselfish and inspiring, something that larger communities can learn from, people that just do their job well, with enthusiasm with innovation, creative ideas and skills, something for someone without first working out what is in it for them.

Cycle 13 came across many other amazing things in Liechtenstein, Christoph Stockel devoted his time, skill, money and in some cases his well being to go to India and help children less fortunate than him or children in his community of Triesen, we were so touched that we now are planning and supporting his project to expand this good will and good energy in India. Christoph enlisted the help of a local photographer Martin Walser who also went out to India and brought back the most amazing images of the faces of these people and hosted an exhibition to highlight the cause here in Liechtenstein which was very well attended, we are now supporting Martin to return to India to take more images of the faces of people in the project.

There are many more amazing things small and large discovered in Liechtenstein by Cycle 13 and far too many to mention here, we will however be nominating these things and people for the special category within the Cycle 13 award, please keep checking in for more information.
